AT&T has confirmed that it will not be stocking LG’s latest flagship smartphone. Despite LG’s newest G-series device being confirmed to launch through T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon, AT&T has revealed to The Verge that it has no plans to offer the smartphone. Instead, the carrier has announced that it plans to offer a new exclusive LG smartphone beginning this summer.

In a statement, the company said that they already “offer a strong lineup of devices from LG” but failed to mention any specifics in regards to their upcoming offering. Considering the flagship positioning of the LG G7 ThinQ, however, AT&T’s alternative will most likely be a premium smartphone, something that coincides with recent LG rumors. After all, it was reported last month that the South Korean brand had plans to launch yet another LG V30 upgrade, dubbed the V35 ThinQ.

Now, LG’s newest V30 variant, the V30S ThinQ, only recently went up for pre-order in the US with an eventual release expected to happen towards the end of this month. In addition, the company is also preparing the launch of its latest mainstream flagship, the G7 ThinQ, which will begin shipping the first week of June. If previous V-series launches are anything to go by it’s also probable that this year’s V40 ThinQ will make an appearance around September or October. All of this would effectively leave an empty timeframe in between device releases that coincides with the summer months and thus pointing towards the LG V35 ThinQ being an AT&T exclusive, at least in the US anyway.

Only time will tell what AT&T’s official plans with LG entail, but considering the carrier has chosen to skip a relatively major smartphone, the companies surely have something major in the works that should impress consumers upon launch.
