Hot on the heels of the newly announced Oppo R15 that gives us a hint how the eventual OnePlus 6 may end up looking like, now comes another trajectory to explore - its rumored in-display finger scanner. Why do we think it is a real possibility all of a sudden? Well, BBK, the parent company of Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus, just announced two new handsets today - the Vivo X21 and X21 UD - for under display, apparently, as this is the successor of the first phone with such sensor, the X20 UD.

You guessed it - besides utter resemblance to the Oppo R15, down to the 6.28" notch-y displays and the vertical dual camera on the back, the "UD" version sports an in-display finger scanner. Vivo even warns that thicker screen protectors might affect its performance, so you should use the Vivo-approved one that comes with it.

The X21 UD is not some concept phone like the Apex, either, as it is going on sale on March 28 for the equivalent of about $570, which may give us a hint at how much the OnePlus 6 may end up costing. As far as specs go, here's the list:

  • Under Display fingerprint scanner

  • 6.28-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED Display with 1080x2280 resolution

  • 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor

  • Adreno 512 GPU

  • 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM, expandable up to 256GB

  • 3,200mAh battery with Fast Charging Support

  • Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4

  • Dual Rear Cameras – 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, Samsung 2L9 sensor & Dual Pixel technology + 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture

  • 12MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture

  • Bluetooth 5.0, AI Features, USB 2.0

  • AK4376A audio chip for Hi-Fi audio

  • Colour Options – Black, Aurora White and Ruby Red

  • Granted, by the time the OnePlus 6 ships, the midrange Snapdragon may give way to an 845, but the rest should be pretty similar, judging from previous tandem releases of BBK's Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus brands.
