When it comes to enterprise customers, Microsoft undeniably holds the crown in regards to the desktop portion of the market thanks to the popularity of Windows. But switch over to a smartphone or a tablet and it’s a completely different story, according to a new report by Egnyte.

Thanks to data compiled over the past twelve months, it’s been revealed that over 46% of all enterprise customers have chosen one of Apple’s various iPhones as their preferred device, while a further 32% have opted for an iPad. This means that, in total, just under 80% of all enterprise users use an iOS device. For comparison, only 21% of users are said to own a device running a different OS such as Android or Windows 10 Mobile.

In regards to which devices were actually the most popular, Apple once again dominated the list. In fact, the top 5 most used products were Apple-branded. These were, in descending order, the iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPad Air 2, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 6. Elsewhere, it’s worth noting that the iPhone 8, iPhone X, and iPad Pro were also among the top 20 in use.

Overall, it seems as though Apple’s ever-improving ecosystem and its ability to provide a fast and secure experience are sufficient to attract a wide variety of enterprise customers, with the IT sector perhaps being the brand’s biggest market. When it comes to desktops, though, the company only commands a 9% share of the market, something that isn’t showing any signs of significant growth.
