HMD Global could be about to introduce the Nokia 5 (2018). So far this year the Finnish company has introduced the Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018) (also known as the Nokia 6.1 in the US), the Nokia 7 Plus, and the flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco. And, after confirming that 2018 updates of the Nokia 5, 3, and 2 were also in the works, it appears the Nokia 5 (2018) could be the first to launch.

Replying to a user of Twitter who asked about the upcoming device, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas hinted at its imminent arrival by saying “stay tuned.” Now, the tweet fails to mention any specific release dates, but considering last year’s model went on sale in June, it seems likely that this year’s variant could see a similar release date, with an announcement possibly happening towards the end of May.

In regards to specifications, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 seems to be a likely candidate for the device along with the options of either 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Furthermore, 16GB of internal storage will most likely be present, although a 32GB model may be released also. As with Nokia’s newest devices, the Nokia 5 is expected to form part of Google’s Android One program, meaning Android 8.1 Oreo should ship straight out of the box.

On a final note, if the Nokia 5 (2018) sticks to the same price bracket as last year’s model, it seems likely that the new device should cost around €200, or around $240. Also, the device could potentially make an appearance alongside the lower-end Nokia 2 and 3 2018 updates.
